A specific fear can feel small to other people and enormous to you. Maybe it's flying, or driving on the interstate, or needles at the doctor's office. Maybe it's dogs, heights, storms, or being in a crowded room. Whatever it is, the fear is real, and the effort you put into avoiding it can quietly shape your days more than you'd like.

You're not being dramatic, and you're not alone. Phobias are one of the most common concerns people bring to counseling, and they tend to respond well to support. When a fear starts steering your choices, that's a good reason to reach out, and it's something we work with often.

How We Help

Facing a fear head-on rarely works, and simply avoiding it only makes it louder over time. Instead, we use evidence-based approaches that help your nervous system learn, at a pace you can handle, that the thing you fear is more manageable than it feels. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is often a strong fit for phobias, helping you notice the thoughts that fuel the fear and gently build new experiences alongside them. When a phobia is tied to a past event, EMDR and mindfulness-based approaches can help your body and mind ease some of that charge.

What to Expect

We start by understanding your specific fear and how it affects your life, with no pressure and no judgment. From there, we build a plan together, always at a pace you set. You stay in the driver's seat the whole way. Progress usually comes in steady, doable steps rather than one big leap, and small wins tend to build real confidence.
