Personality Disorders Counseling
DBT-informed and trauma-aware care.
If your emotions often feel bigger than the moment that set them off, if relationships seem to swing between closeness and distance, or if you have been left feeling like you are "too much" or "hard to be around," you are not broken. You are a person who learned to survive in the ways that made sense at the time, and those patterns can be understood and worked with.
A personality disorder diagnosis can feel heavy, even shaming. We do not see it that way. Behind these labels are real people carrying real pain, often rooted in past hurt, who deserve care that is patient, respectful, and free of judgment. You are welcome here exactly as you are.
Our Approach
We work with these concerns through a DBT-informed and trauma-aware lens. Dialectical behavior therapy focuses on practical skills for riding out intense emotions, easing distress in the moment, and steadying relationships. One of our counselors, Kellie Bouldin, is a certified DBT therapist, and our team also draws on Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and mindfulness-based approaches. Because so much of this work touches earlier experiences, we move at a pace that keeps you feeling safe and in control.
What To Expect
Therapy here is collaborative, not something done to you. Together we get curious about the patterns that keep showing up, name the feelings underneath them, and build tools you can actually use in daily life. Over time, many people find they can pause before reacting, repair after conflict, and treat themselves with more compassion. We walk alongside you rather than promising quick fixes.
Coordinating Your Care
We are licensed counselors and therapists, not prescribers, and we do not diagnose through psychological testing. If medication is part of your care, or if you are working with a psychiatrist or medical provider, we are glad to coordinate so your support feels connected rather than scattered.
When you are ready, we offer a free 15-minute consultation to see whether we are a good fit. We are accepting new patients, both in person here in Cheyenne and by telehealth anywhere in Wyoming. We bill most major insurance, including BCBS, Optum, Cigna, Aetna, Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare, with self-pay and reduced-rate options available. Reach out to Hope's Beacon at (307) 514-1288 whenever you feel ready to begin.
Our counselors draw on a range of approaches — including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, EMDR, and mindfulness-based techniques — tailored to you, not a template. We bill all major insurance plans including BCBS, Optum (UHC/UMR), Cigna, Aetna, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and Victim Services. Self-pay is $100/session, and reduced-rate options are available.
