Bipolar Disorder Counseling
Long-term support for stability and self-understanding.
Living with bipolar disorder can feel like being handed a life that changes without warning. The high periods might bring energy, ideas, and momentum, while the low periods can pull you into exhaustion, hopelessness, or a heaviness that's hard to explain to anyone who hasn't felt it. In between, you may be left trying to make sense of what happened, repair what shifted, and steady yourself for whatever comes next.
You are not your diagnosis, and you are not too much. With the right support, many people find real, lasting stability and a deeper understanding of how their own mind works. We're here to walk alongside you in that.
How We Help
Therapy plays an important role in living well with bipolar disorder, and it works best alongside psychiatric medication management provided by a medical prescriber. We don't prescribe medication, and we're glad to coordinate with your psychiatrist or medical provider so your care feels connected rather than scattered. Our focus is the day-to-day work of building stability: recognizing your early warning signs, understanding your patterns, and developing coping tools you can rely on when a shift begins.
Our Approach
We use evidence-based approaches matched to what you need. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help you work with the thoughts and behaviors that accompany mood changes. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills support emotional regulation and distress tolerance, and one of our counselors is a certified DBT therapist. Mindfulness-based and person-centered work can help you stay grounded and self-compassionate. Together we'll shape a plan that respects your history, your goals, and your own sense of what stability looks like.
What To Expect
Progress here is measured in steadiness, not speed. Over time, many clients grow more attuned to their moods, better able to protect their sleep and routines, and more confident navigating relationships and work through the ups and downs. We move at a pace that honors where you are.
If you're ready to talk, we offer a free 15-minute consultation for new patients. Hope's Beacon serves clients in person in Cheyenne and by telehealth across Wyoming, and we accept most major insurance plans. Reaching out is a strong first step, and we'd be honored to take it with you.
Our counselors draw on a range of approaches — including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, EMDR, and mindfulness-based techniques — tailored to you, not a template. We bill all major insurance plans including BCBS, Optum (UHC/UMR), Cigna, Aetna, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and Victim Services. Self-pay is $100/session, and reduced-rate options are available.
